Ministerial Committee on Legislation Approves Censorship Bill On Sunday, July 8th, the Ministerial Committee approved the bill stating that every customer of an Israeli internet service provider interested in receiving unfiltered internet access will be required to specifically request it. Starting 2008, a committee will be formed in order to decide on appropriate and inappropriate content. (more)

This bill is presented as an means to assist concerned parents, but in fact, it will force censorship on all internet users, producing lists of customers who choose to access unfiltered online content, hurt the freedom of speech of all citizens, and damage the freedom of employment for internet service providers and manufacturers of web-filtering companies, as well as inflict additional costs on all customers.
